Gustavian Style Antique Pale Aqua Painted 3 Drawer Dresser Chest
The listing
This is a charming antique painted chest of drawers. The dresser is unsigned but was likely made in the United States, circa late 19th century. The dresser is made of solid wood throughout. The piece features a scalloped front edge on the top, paneled sides, 3 Knapp jointed drawers with black painted wood knobs and ornate decorative escutcheons, and bracket feet. The Gustavian style painted finish in antiqued pale aqua is newer and not original. The color is similar to Benjamin Moore 708 White Rain ("A soft blue-gray that cleanses like a cool summer rain"). The 19th century era chest of drawers is in very good antique condition. The dresser is solid and sturdy. There was a repair made to a crack in a front leg, but it appears to have been professionally done because it's as sturdy (or even sturdier) than an unrepaired leg. Wear on the painted surface, including scratches, chips, paint marks, paint loss. The drawers slide freely but missing drawer stops on the top and bottom drawers. Please see photos for more details about the condition of the chest. The dresser measures 30" tall, 41" wide, and 20.5" deep. Local pick up in Rockville, MD 20853. Help loading available.
