Vintage 1998 Steelcase “Rally” WIDE Office Desk Chair — Made in USA
The listing
This is a vintage Steelcase “Rally” office chair, manufactured in Grand Rapids, Michigan, in June 1998 — back when Steelcase built chairs to be used for many decades. The manufacturing tag is still intact on the underside, stamped with the original order number and ship date, a small detail that tells you exactly how this chair was made and when. Upholstered in a highly durable black fabric with a matching molded arm and back shell, this chair has the substantial, solid feel that's become rare in office seating today. The frame shows none of the wobble or creak you get from cheaper, newer chairs after a few years of daily use. They genuinely don't make them like this anymore. This is 1990s American office furniture manufacturing at its peak, from a company still considered the gold standard in ergonomic seating. It's also a generously sized chair — a great pickup for anyone who's felt boxed in by the narrow seats on most modern task chairs, whether for a home office, studio, or anywhere you want a chair with real bones instead of a flat-pack import. Dimensions: Total Height: Adjusts from 32” to 37” Seat Height: Adjusts from 16” to 20” Seat Width: 20” Seat Depth: 17.5” A truly excellent chair.
