This is a single, recently serviced Dynaco A-25XL, the next generation evolution of the classic A-25. I had it recapped in September of this year, and kept the original cap, shown in the pictures. I got it as one of a mismatched pair. The other one, an early A-25 with a top vent and middle-mounted tweeter, is listed separately. The main difference between the A-25XL and the A-25 are a 1” ScanSpeak tweeter instead of the standard 1.5” SEAS, an 8µF cap in the crossover instead of the standard 5µF, a 3-position tweeter switch instead of 5, thinner frame panels, and a slightly protruding grille instead of the standard flush-mount. All of this has the effect of making the A-25XL a bit louder and brighter than the original A-25. This is true when connected to my KLH Model Fifty-Two, and it still retains the classic Dynaco warmth, midrange clarity, and tight, punchy bass. What can I say? It sounds awesome! I’d love to hear what a pair of these sounds like, but haven’t found another matching single. Cosmetically it’s in moderate shape, with some chipping on the corners and edges, and some dings and scratches on all sides, shown in the pictures. I cleaned the cabinet and buffed it with Howard’s Feed-n-wax when I bought it, so it’s nicely conditioned. The grille cloth was replaced by a previous owner and is still clean and intact. I removed the Velcro when cleaning the cabinet for fear of damaging the grille frame with multiple removals. It’s included, so you can decide to put it back on, or not. I used light-duty double-sided masking tape to hold the grille on. The Dynaco badge, also included, is separated from its screw, which is pretty common with 50-year-old speakers. I'm leaving installation to you in. Pricing is pretty firm, but I am open to reasonable offers. I’m also open to selling it as a mismatched pair with the A25XL I have listed separately. And I’m open to trading it for a standard A-25 if you have a mismatched pair too. You pick up, no returns. I accept Cash App, Venmo, and actual cash.
