Van Dessel Drag Strip Courage Track Bike 56cm Race ready package
The listing
I am selling my track bike that I have had for about 10 years. I raced it at Hellyer Velodrome, VELO sports center (LA Velodrome), and Alpenrose. I did a refresh with new wheels and tires for one of the last races at Alpenrose before it closed. This bike is in great condition, as you can see in the photos, and has never been ridden in the rain or on the street. The frame size is a "56cm" but was designed by two-time U.S. Olympian Jame Carney such that the frame geometry is specifically tailored to excel in both mass-start sprint events and timed pursuit/time trial events. I am 6' 1", but I think you could be about 5' 10" and still get the right fit. I will include all of the extra gearing and pursuit handlebars, to make this a turn-key package to start racing- or you can part it out as it's probably close to $600 in just chainrings and cogs if you sold it on ebay. The bike was built to optimize the components for track racing, here is a list of the build: Van Dessel Drag Strip Courage 56cm PRO Vibe 7s track drop handlebar VCRC Ceramic bottom Bracket SRAM Omnium Track Crankset 144 BCD Bontrager Paradigm XXX saddle FSA Track 144 BCD Chainrings (47t, 48t, 49t, 51t, 52t) Track cogs and lockrings (14t, 15t, 17t) Profile design Cobrawing and Zipp Vuka aerobars 88mm Carbon wheels with Vittoria Corsa tires Izumi V Super Toughness waxed chain Brand new bar tape installed for today's photos. I'll paste some details below, The Van Dessel Drag Strip Courage is a pro-level aluminum track bike explicitly engineered with a "Dual Function" race geometry. Designed by two-time U.S. Olympian Jame Carney, the frame geometry was specifically tailored to excel in both mass-start sprint events and timed pursuit/time trial events. Core Geometry Design & Handling • Long and Low Silhouette: The frame features a traditionally long effective top tube paired with a relatively low front end. This inherently aggressive posture is optimized to maximize aerodynamics and maintain stability under immense power outputs or high-speed banking. • The Dual-Setup System: Because the underlying frame geometry bridges two styles of racing, riders historically fine-tune their fit using distinct cockpit configurations: - Sprint / Mass Start Setup: Achieved by using a long, up-sloping stem combined with traditional track drop bars. - Pursuit / Time Trial Setup: Achieved by swapping to a down-sloping stem paired with aerodynamic time-trial bars. • Stiffness-Focused Tube Profiles: To translate the race geometry into pure speed, the Dedacciai 7005 aluminum frame utilizes an oversized down tube and chainstays that taper tightly at the bottom bracket to prevent flex. An aggressive aero seat tube with a rear wheel cutout minimizes wind resistance.
