Phishing scam

The listing

A person with a phone number show contact info text messaged me saying that they wanted to purchase an item I had on Craigslist. They asked for my email address send me money through venmo. Unfortunately I gave him my email address and I got a scam email from them with a phone number from Texas. I googled the Texas phone number and found out the person was named Antonio. Called the number and asked where he was calling from and he said venmo in New York. At that time I told him that was incorrect and he hung up on me. The person sending text messages from the 434 number continuously text with threatening text messages now that I told him that it's a scam. Please be on alert and don't give out your email addresses. I have contacted venmo and I'm escalating this to the phishing department.
