Here is a super rare find: a 1921 Couturier (Continuous) Conical Bore A/Bb Cornet in 24K gold plate with all original alternate tuning slides (3 total) and a mode switch that can shift from A to Bb tuning in a millisecond. The finish and valves are in immaculate condition. This horn comes from a special legacy collection of a well-known musician and was meticulously maintained and loved. You will not find this horn customized with all the accessories in this condition ever again. This vintage beauty has very few signs of wear. It's over 100 years old and has the original gold plate, so you might find areas that don't seem as bright gold as others, but the plating looks almost new. But honestly, this horn is STUNNING. The engraving is exquisite and looks as it was new—they don't do this kind of hand engraving anymore. Very little wear and very few usage scuffs or micro-scratches. The valves are clean, fast and quiet. And the A/Bb key switch knob is smooth, fast and quiet. You can also switch between the three included tuning slides to fine-tune to your situation. The tone is superb—very warm and tight. Has a uniquely dark and produces the quintessential warm cornet sound. This by far has been the best cornet we've ever been asked to re-home and whoever snags it will be so incredibly lucky (and happy!). The bell and piping throughout is near perfect. Refer to the photos and you can see how beautiful the horn is. This gorgeous legacy work of art comes with a custom-balanced set of opal/24K gold finger buttons that feel so amazing to play. The horn also comes with the original 24K genuine oyster pearl buttons. All the buttons have custom felt cut to land each button exactly where it needs to be for maximum air and speed. Comes with the original (wood) case. But we recommend you use a new and more modern case with padding, as the original is basically wood with very thin felt lining. No mouthpieces are included but we're confident any mouthpiece you decide to use will complement this incredible instrument.
