LUXMAN MQ-88u Stereo Tube Power Amplifier
The listing
The Luxman MQ-88u is an all tube stereo power amplifier made in Japan. Featuring a push-pull configuration using KT88 tubes to produce 25W + 25W of power per channel. It uses a Mullard-type driver stage, triode connection, and OY15-type output transformers for a natural and warm sound, supports 4, 6, 8, and 16-ohm speakers for broad compatibility. Includes onboard power settings or a direct full power pass through. The amplifier has a full metal chassis and protective cage, a parallel-connected first stage for high S/N, and is built with custom-designed blocking capacitors and Nichicon coupling capacitors. This is a 'like new' condition 100v 2018 floor model that spent it's life at a Luxman Dealership in Sapporo largely unpowered except for demo requests (~10 hours of use top end). I am including all the original components and accessories packed in the original box as if purchasing new. Power and tubes: Power Output: 25W + 25W (into 4, 8, and 16 ohm loads). Power tubes are 4x JJ KT88 tubes in a push-pull configuration. Buffer/Pre tubes: 2x JJ ECC83S (AX7) and 2x JJ ECC82 (AU7) tubes for the first-stage and driver stages. Uses a triode connection for longer tube life and more transparent timbre. Signal path features a parallel-connected first stage for high signal-to-noise ratio and low impedance transmission. Employs OY15-type output transformers in die-cast aluminum cases. Uses Nichicon high-voltage metallized polypropylene film capacitors for coupling to achieve a natural tone. Includes a stable El-type power transformer and custom-designed blocking capacitors. I can supply an ultra high quality UK built toroidal step down transformer I had shipped in from the UK or assist you in sourcing your own as while this run on 115/120v US power it's meant to run at JP 100v - additionally adding a toroidal step down actually ground isolates the amplifier entirely and adds a serious buffer for ultra quiet/stable operation. Zero hum, buzz, tube rush etc - everything you want from a high end SS amplifier with the musicality of KT88s. I also have a completely unused set of superb 6P3SE which is a Russian made mil spec alternative to a KT88 which is highly prized for this type of application that I sourced specifically to match to this amp which will be included at the asking price. Asking $2200, these are 7k new for the US model and go for ~5k used. I found one other JP model for sale in the US at 3k. Shoot me a call or text if you want to come demo it, looks amazing and sounds even better.
