1979 Gibson Les Paul Custom – Tobacco Sunburst
The listing
Up for grabs is my vintage 1979 Gibson Les Paul Custom in Tobacco Sunburst. This is one of the best playing Les Pauls that I have owned. The previous owner had it refretted with Dunlop 6100 fretwire from frets 1–11 and Dunlop 6105 from fret 12 through the end of the board. The result allows for low action with easy bends and no significant buzzing in its current setup. Currently set up with .011–.048 strings. The guitar’s pickups are a Seymour Duncan JB SH-4 bridge pickup and a Seymour Duncan ’59 SH-1 neck pickup. All electronics are fully functional. A Bigsby B5 has been installed and mounted with a Vibramate no-drill adapter. The guitar includes gold Grover locking tuners and gold Schaller strap locks with a leather guitar strap. The truss rod is fully functional, the neck is straight, and I have not observed any twisting or warping. Guitar is in player-grade condition. Notable cosmetic wear includes: * Pick and strumming marks around the toggle-switch area * Light buckle rash and scratches on the back * General dings/scratches * Yellowing and ambering of the binding * Finish indentation around the two lower tone controls * Localized areas of nitrocellulose finish clouding and flaking * Additional age-related patina and wear consistent with a 47-year-old instrument I have photographed the condition as clearly as possible and can provide additional close-ups upon request. Includes a Gibson Les Paul hardshell case that appears to date from approximately the early 2000s, although I cannot confirm the exact year. The case is worn and the interior lid ribbon is detached, but the case remains functional and all latches work. Purchased locally in Portland a little over a year ago. Selling to fund another project. $4,000 OBO No trades Local sale only Cash transaction at a bank preferred so funds can be verified Serious inquiries only, please.
