Wishbass Lobe 5 String Singlecut Fretted Bass w/ Upgrades

The listing

Wishbass Lobe 5-string fretted bass. I’ve never seen another fretted Wishbass. Wishbass instruments are famously handmade, rustic, tonewood-first builds, and this one has had a number of professional upgrades that bring it considerably closer to the fit, function, and feel of a conventional production bass while retaining all of its Wishbass character. A proper Fender-style bridge has been installed, replacing the original through-body stringing arrangement. It has slightly longer intonation screws to ensure intonation is top notch, and unlike with the original bone bridge the intonation is perfect now. The electronics cavity has been fully shielded and properly grounded, eliminating the hum associated with the original ungrounded electronics. There is new routing for a ground cable to the bridge, finished with a custom-shaped wooden covers. Dunlop strap-lock buttons have also been installed. Visually, the bass is especially striking for its cherry wood stringers running continuously from the headstock, all the way down through the neck and into the body. A beautiful detail that really highlights the instrument’s handmade construction. The neck is huge and chunky, bat-like. Tone is growly and organic, somewhere between a P-bass and a Musicman Stingray. A truly unusual Wishbass, made considerably more practical through thoughtful professional work. A rare piece for the bassist who appreciates handmade instruments with character. Feel welcome to come and test with no commitment to buy. I can include a Levy's gig bag for an extra $15.
