1969-1974 Traynor YGM-3 Guitar Mate Reverb — Vintage Canadian Tube Combo. Tube amp tech owned and serviced. Great opportunity to own one of Traynor’s classic vintage tube amps. The YGM-3 Guitar Mate Reverb is a highly regarded Canadian-made combo known for its excellent build quality, powerful output section, and distinctive vintage tube tone. This is a full tube amplifier, featuring a pair of EL84 or 7189 output tubes, tube rectification, tube-driven reverb and the a deep, lush tremolo. It delivers a wonderful combination of warm cleans, natural compression, and classic vintage overdrive when pushed. The power supply/filter capacitors have been replaced, and the bias supply has been serviced. The 7189 output tubes are matched, preamp tubes all test strong and the amplifier has been properly biased. Grounded power cord installed. The amp is quiet at idle and operating properly. I found an aftermarket Traynor logo badge and installed it on the speaker grill/baffle. It has the classic Traynor sound — big, articulate cleans with plenty of punch, excellent touch response, and a sweet vintage breakup when turned up. Despite its relatively compact size, the YGM-3 has considerably more authority and headroom than many small vintage combos. This would make an excellent amp for someone looking for a vintage tube amplifier with real player appeal, rather than another mass-produced modern reproduction. I think of this amp as an EL84/7189 version of a Fender Deluxe Reverb.
