Mid-Century Modern Hand-Carved Wooden Horse Sculpture

The listing

This statue features a stylized rearing stallion suported by a natural tree trunk stump motif on an integrated oval wood base. Believed to have been crafted out of monkey pod wood or suar wood. It is in excellent condition. It is considered an authentic piece because of two things: I. A small metal piece is embedded in the bottom of the wood base which was the artisan's structural reinforcement or a core alignment plug. II. There is a large X mark underneath the horse's belly which was the classic inventory, workshop or quality control mark from its original production or import journey. $55
