1920’S Hartmann steamer wardrobe trunk.

For sale is my1920'S Hartmann steamer wardrobe trunk. The patina that took almost 100 year to develop has been “locked in” by brush painting all parts with fine art varnish. The leather parts have been treated with leather care. The inside is in remarkably good condition. The trunk makes a very unique dresser / wardrobe and would also be an excellent eye-catching decoration item in the right retail shop. Either way it's definitely a great conversation piece. The dimensions are: 40 1/2 high, 22" wide and 22 1/2" deep. There are all kinds of interesting features. There are six drawers. The top drawer has three individual compartments as well as an additional, hidden drawer compartment in the back. Once the drawer has been completely removed said compartment can be accessed. Four of the drawers each have two ribbons attached to their bases to hold the content in place. One drawer has two compartments that seem to have been designed to hold a top-hat and a flat-iron. There are also nine cloth hangers and two wooden bars. Furthermore there are two devices of unclear purpose. I couldn't find anybody who remembers the 1920s, so the younger people's guesses go from "bra holders" to "hat holders". All drawers can be secured and locked by a foldable bar, even when the trunk is opened. There is also an ironing board as well as a removable (of course) brief case. The trunk comes with two keys to the big brass lock made by YALE. This is not the typical "found it in the humid basement, shabby chic, chase the rats out first” - steamer trunk. This is a 100 year old piece of art in remarkable condition and with lots of charisma. Asking $ 1599.00 I am open for reasonable offers. Thanks for looking.
