Vintage Poul Kjærholm PK22 lounge chair -- iconic 1960s Danish design

The listing

Hey all, Up for grabs is an authentic vintage PK22 lounge chair designed by Poul Kjærholm. This is a collectible early version made by E. Kold Christensen in Denmark (not one of the later Fritz Hansen productions sold through retailers like DWR) with the correct manufacturer's stamp on the frame, likely produced sometime during the 1960s. The PK22 is an iconic piece and a super cool example of classic mid-century Scandinavian design. Kjærholm used a steel frame that can flex slightly under weight, with a sleek tensioned leather seat to support the body without traditional upholstery and bulky padding. It's a shockingly comfortable piece of furniture -- not one of those "sculptural" chairs that looks amazing but isn't actually great for relaxing. It weighs less than 25 lbs so it's easy to move around, the compact 25" x 25" footprint makes it a great lounge chair for NYC. I bought this one a few years ago from a furniture dealer in Massachusetts who was closing his business. The steel frame is 100% original and in very good vintage condition, just normal signs of age and use (light scuffing and very mild oxidation/pitting around the feet). The leather cover isn't original but definitely a high-quality replacement in gorgeous brown/cognac that's in awesome condition. Overall, the chair is in really good shape and ready for the next owner to enjoy. It looks great with almost every interior style (Danish modern, Bauhaus, minimalist, industrial, modernist, contemporary) and fits especially well alongside pieces from Knoll, Cassina, or Herman Miller and other MCM designers like Eames, Nelson, Olsen, Juhl, Mogensen, Wegner, Noguchi, etc. Looking to get $3,750. Pickup on the Upper East Side near 83rd & 1st. I can also potentially deliver, depending on your location. Thanks, - M
