Vintage Lionel 3100 Great Northern 4-8-4 FARR 3 w/ Sounds, Smoke, Runs

Offering this Lionel 3100 Great Northern 4-8-4 die-cast steam locomotive from 1981. It is part of the FAMOUS AMERICAN RAILROAD Series, #3. I have the original box in VG/P6 condition with a VG Styrofoam casing. Also includes the original instructions and some other literature. The loco is used and has sat idle for over 10 yrs. It is dusty/dirty with no apparent rust, except for some fine specs on the connector rods and hand rails (cleanable). No apparent cracks, breaks, or missing parts. It does have some paint scratches. See the pictures for yourself. I tested it on a 12’ test track (no curves). At first it would only run in reverse. Then it would only run forward. E unit is sticking. It did improve a little as I ran it more. Headlight works fine. Sounds need help. It kind of sounds like an engine; but, with lots of “static/crackling”. I’m not an electrical person; but, I’m told that could be due to poor electrical connections. It just needs some TLC. This is a nice looking loco. It is heavy. The whole package is in the 8-9 lbs. range. It should pull some nice loads around your layout. Asking $150, cash only, $20 bills or smaller.
