Matao was a musical instrument brand produced in and imported from Japan and was sold exclusively by the Music West franchise chain in Washington, Oregon, Nevada, and Northern California. This PARTICULAR model was made in Japan at the Hoshino factory sometime between 1975-1983, and features a Strat-style body, maple neck and fingerboard, the classic SSS pickup configuration with 5-way selector switch and a vintage style bridge with tremolo arm. (I have then tremolo arm for the guitar, it will be included at purchase) The maple neck offers smooth playability, making it ideal for both beginners and seasoned players, and its eye-catching sunburst finish and classic design deliver a timeless look with reliable performance standards. PLEASE READ!!! - As you can see by the last three photos, it looks as though someone tried to pull the old Fargo woodchipper scene on this beauty. I mean I’ve looked at a bunch of scenarios and STILL haven’t figured it out! That said, yes, this is a player’s guitar, but ONLY in those areas, because if you look at the guitar from the front it’s MUCH less noticeable. As for the guitar as a whole, none of that damage affects the playability of the guitar in any way. Asking price reflects that damage, but only to a point. This guitar did, after all, come from the Hoshino factory and is otherwise in immaculate shape! I'm located in Chicago, Il., and cross-streets for local pickup are Nelson and Racine.
