Antique European wrought iron & brass bed

If you are looking for a highlight for your house, for a piece of classy, authentic, antique furniture probably none of your friends has ever seen before, this approximately 130 year old work of art is it. This antique wrought iron & brass bed is absolutely unique, has a gorgeous design. I haven't seen anything like it before or since I bought about 35 years ago at an antique dealer's in Germany. The bed was most likely made in Europe, according to said antique dealer, probably in France, Spain or Portugal. It is estimated to date back to the late nineteenth century. In my view it represents an interesting combination of a more traditional nineteenth century style in the iron part and a straighter, cleaner design in the brass part that almost looks like it was influenced by what we now refer to as Cubism. The bed goes well with many different kinds of furniture / interior designs. In my homes in example, it has done well in a contemporary and Art Deco environment. The bed has been completely restored. All old paint has been removed down to the bare metal, all wrought iron parts have then been painted in three layers. All brass (26 individual pieces in all) has been taken apart and cleaned - some patina however has been intentionally left in place for better looks. The bed is 54" wide. The headboard is 54" high, the footboard slightly shorter at 49". The rails connecting headboard and footboard have been lengthened so the bed now accommodates a Double/Full mattress (54" x 75") with an over all outside length of 81". (The lengthening of the rails could easily be reversed if authenticity is considered more important than practicability.) Asking price: $ 2450 I'm open for reasonable offers. Thanks for looking.
