Two Zeiss Ikon Contax IIa Rangefinder Color Dial Cameras

The listing

Offering for sale 1954 Zeiss Ikon Contax IIa rangefinder with 50mm f2 Zeiss Opton Sonnar lens. These later IIa versions are referred to as "color dial" having the shutter speeds in color rather than black. My understanding is that the IIa model was built in far smaller numbers than the more popular IIIa model, a tenth as common. This camera is the nicest one that I could find after several years of looking. It is in excellent mechanical condition: all shutter speeds are accurate as electronically tested, viewfinder clear and rangefinder aligned perfectly. The only fault found is cosmetic damage to the filter threads having no effect on fitting filter. Lens is clear and free of fungus and haze with minimal dust. Camera is film tested with excellent results. Included is a beautiful new leather halfcase, a practical OpTech strap, a funky original case, and an original owner's manual. With the package comes a complete second spare camera in need of overhaul. In the course of trying to find someone competent to work on this potential jewel, I became frustrated and bought my second camera to scratch my Zeiss itch. With a closet full of '50s rangefinders, I have decided to cull the herd and sell the ones I haven't been using. Given the ridiculous cost of having these cameras repaired, buying a good one outright will prove a far cheaper and less agonizing process. Offered here at $550 for everything. Offers graciously considered and would prefer to make a sale only after you have inspected the cameras in person. Package sale only.
